What is Account Takeover?

Account takeover is when an attacker gains control of a legitimate user account, usually through credential stuffing or phishing, and uses it as their own.

How it works

Once inside, attackers drain balances, change contact details to lock the real user out, and use the account's history and trust to defraud others.

Why it matters for sportsbooks

Every takeover is a support incident, a potential chargeback, and a user who may never come back. For your book, that means margin on every market stay protected and bettors get a fair experience.

How OddsArmor detects it

OddsArmor scores every request against behavioral, network, and device signals, so automated patterns surface even when they imitate real bettors. Suspicious sessions get challenged or blocked before they reach your book.
